Decker moved to Georgia around the age of fifteen. Jessie James' first album entitled Jessie James and released in August 2009, was her self-titled debut. Jessie James was reasonably successful and included Wanted a single that brushed the Top 40 of the singles charts. Decker was a country singer who believed herself to be a traditional country performer in the past was shocked to discover that the album was not marketed and produced with a focus at a mass audience. The music of Decker came under more scrutiny after the release of two songs. The next song, Boys in the Summer had a country feel. Decker launched her sophomore album with two titles: Sweet American Dreams or Daughter of a Gypsy. Mercury decided to put it back on the shelf after the first three singles failed to make it onto the country charts. Decker then was let go from the contract.
